Today, my Power Hour buddies, Pete and Greg, and I got an email that contained solely these six words:
The powerhourgame.com domain is for sale
That website is Steve Roose’s domain. When I went to the site, I saw this:
Steve’s website is now gone. He has given up on selling his terrible product.
So how does this generic “Domain Sales Corp” know that Pete, Greg and I would be the people to email about it? Because there is no such thing as Domain Sales Corp. It’s just another fake Gmail address that Steve Roose has created in order to try to deceive me. Draining my $30,000 for legal fees was not enough. Steve Roose thinks he’s going fool me so he can take my money for his website.
Another obnoxious detail I’d like to point out is that his site has a Facebook like button claiming that over 2.5 million people like the page! Wow. Maybe this domain is worth buying if it has such a crazy following. Upon a little investigation I discovered that he’s actually embedded a like button that’s counting the votes for “facebook.com”, not his own site.
So Steve is lying about who he is and lying about his product in attempt to get more money out of me. The extent of Roosebag’s suckness seems to have no end.
Ok, you’re here because you know about my beer-soaked legal brawl [If not, go here] but only on the surface level. You are what’s known as a smart person (or you just really love me) so you want more info and have come to this story for all the hilarious details. Well I’m happy to oblige, dear smart/loving person. Please enjoy my telling of the tale of Binge Responsibly, LLC (Yayyy!) vs. Power Hour, LLC (Boooo.) Read more…
The title gave it away. I couldn’t help it! Holycrapholycrapholycrap!!! After 3 years of hard work and $30,000 of legal fees. The court has just ruled in my favor. In OUR favor! WE WIN! Steve Roose’s trademark has been revoked. Everyone is free to play Power Hours all they want!
This amazing announcement is coming in conjunction with the launch of my new Freedom Victory Tour campaign! It’s time to make a global party, dear Power Hour players. Join me for the fun :)
Check out the video and Indiegogo page that explain all the exciting details of the splendid conclusion of this ridiculous legal battle. And if you want a serious (and seriously hilarious) rundown of all that went on through this whole court case, check out my story: How I stuck it to The Man while simultaneously chugging a beer!
So I know it’s been FOREVER since I last said I was just waiting on the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board’s ruling but I still have no updates! Clearly speed is not a priority for the TTAB. I just wanted to let everyone know that the case is still going on and that I most certainly will make a big deal once the decision has been announced.
The good news is that I haven’t had to pay any more lawyer fees because there’s no more lawyer-y stuff to be done! The final tab was just over $30,000 for this butt pain. Though I shouldn’t say “final” because who freakin’ knows what further issues might come up.
Thanks to everyone who’s supported me through everything! The Power Hour fans have made all of this totally worth it!
Since a lot of people have been asking me lately, I’m giving a (non) update about the “power hour” trademark suit: We’re still waiting on the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Nothing has happened since the beginning of December when I filed the Trial Brief. Yeah, litigation ain’t speedy. The total tab so far (after almost 2 years and counting) is $30,000. Ugh.
